1939 Honor: Andy and the Lion, illustrated and written by James Daugherty. First published by Viking in 1938. See the ALA page.

  • Collecting?  First edition attributes are as follows:
    • Large hardcover in pictorial paper covered boards backed in black cloth, 11 x 8 inches, unnumbered pages. See pictures for details.
    • One note on the copyright page: My copy is a 5th print, and as you can see, printings are listed. I have not been able to find a picture of a first print copyright page.

Copyright page lists printings. Inside cover is yellow andhas kids riding a lion, with 2 kids on skates holding lion's tail while a dog follows along. Title page says Andy and the Lion by James Daugherty, The Viking Press New York. Lion peeks out from behind title. Page is in yellow, black and white like the book.
